Building Healthy Wildlife Habitat in the Champlain Valley

Location:
Lake Champlain Waldorf High School , 122 Bostwick Road, Shelburne, VT 05482

Spend an evening learning from Susan Morse about the wildlife habitat that makes the Champlain Valley.  This is an invitation to hunters, farmers, students, new residents, foresters, town commissions, town staff, teachers, land trusts, residents, homemakers, fisherman, artists, birders, activists and young budding trackers.  Sue will charm us with her wit and wisdom about people and the natural world.  Sue's slide presentation will highlight her stunning photography of our local resident wildlife and the status of our common and most vulnerable wildlife species. She will show us how to read wildlife sign and presence, and how to interpret our local landscape for both forest health and opportunities for restoration.  The slide show will be followed by an inter-town conversation and review of current planning maps.  Learn about the variety of local habitat types, contiguous habitat locations, and historic travel corridor areas.  Together, we hope to learn more about our local wildlife and identify inter-town conservation priorities for the upcoming years.

This event is co-sponsored by Lewis Creek Association (Executive Director, Marty Illick) and Town Conservation Commissions,  Lake Champlain Waldorf High School (Laura Slesar) and Shelburne Farms (Christie Nold and Lyn Wolff).

Food and drinks will be provided, with Shelburne Farms making a donation of their fabulous cheese.  Lewis Creek Association will provide beverages.

For more information contact Marty Illick at marty.illick@gamil.com.  Be sure to check out Lewis Creek Association's website: www.lewiscreek.org to find a wealth of information about conservation efforts in the Lewis Creek Watershed.

Everyone who lives in or near the Champlain Valley SHOULD NOT MISS this presentation; and everyone's feedback will be welcome after Sue's presentation.
