Animals of the North: What Will Global Climate Change Mean for Them?

Location:
1 Ethan Allen Homestead, Burlington, VT 05408

Join Susan Morse of Keeping Track for this evening presentation sponsored by the WVPD and the Green Mountain Club Burlington Section, http://gmcburlington.org.  Doors open at 6:30 p.m., show will be from 7-9 p.m. at the Ethan Allen Homestead Museum in Burlington.

This program is not about climate change itself, or even how it will affect us; rather, it's designed to educate audiences about ways in which northern wildlife species are already being affected, with more serious challenges ahead.  Canada lynx, moose, American marten, caribou, polar bears, arctic fox and arctic marine and waterfowl ecology are some of the species and subjects covered in this stunningly beautiful show.  We promise not to overwhelm our audience with bad news. Instead, our program will devote equal time sharing remarkable images of animals and their northern habitats—all in the spirit of Jane Goodall’s “reason for hope”. Our intent is to inspire our attendees, young and old alike, to join us in the vital crusade to change our fossil fuel-burning ways, conserve natural resources and share a healthy planet with all that lives.

The Winooski Valley Park District is a partnership of seven member communities: Burlington, Colchester, Essex, Jericho, South Burlington, Williston, and Winooski.  Its mission is to acquire and manage open space, wildlife habitat, and natural areas for the purposes of conservation and for use as “outdoor classrooms.”  Natural areas managed by the Park District offer cross-country skiing and nature trails, picnic facilities, canoe and fishing accesses, scenic overlooks, and community garden plots.  Please visit www.wvpd.org for more information.  You can also “Like” us at WVPD on Facebook.
