School Curriculum
Keeping Track offers a field-based curriculum for grades 4-8
Keeping Track of Our Wildlife Neighbors" is a forty page curriculum guide
that accompanies our field-based workshops and in-class presentations. The guide
has seven chapters and a detailed resource section providing complete documentation
of the Vermont Standards addressed, along with additional books, journal articles,
and videos. The following are the key elements of the curriculum:
- A detailed introduction and description of Keeping Track's Youth Program.
- "Driving Questions" that provide an inquiry-based approach.
- A curriculum matrix that matches the "Driving Questions" with
the Vermont Standards that are addressed, criteria for assessment, enabling
activities, and assessment exercises.
- Matching Vermont Standards: 1.12, 1.15, 1.17, 1.19, 1.22, 1.4, 3.9, 4.6,
6.7, 7.13, 7.15, 7.2.
- An entire section devoted to key terminology, definitions, and concepts.
- Preliminary and follow-up activities and evaluations for teachers.
- Detailed descriptions of Keeping Track's in-class and field workshops.
- Evaluation rubrics and culminating activities for teachers to measure student
achievement.
